Vocabulary is one of the basic components of language, there is nolanguage without words. So, students can understand the reading text, they canspeak the language and write some notes if they can master the vocabulary. Inreality, students' vocabulary teaching techniques are very monotonous, sostudents become bored and uninterested. Therefore, the researcher chose theword chain game to solve students' problems. The aim of this research is to testwhether there is a significant difference between the vocabulary mastery ofstudents who are taught using word chain games and students who are nottaught using word chain games in the seventh grade of MTs N 2 Wonosobo.This research was conducted to increase students' vocabulary by using theword chain game. This research uses experimental research conducted in twoclasses, one class uses word chain games and one class does not use word chaingames in learning English. This research allows researchers to discover theeffectiveness of word chain games in improving students' vocabulary mastery.Researchers can also learn about how students react in learning English usingword chain games. The results of this research show that the experimental classhas a higher score as seen from the post-test results between the experimentalclass and the control class. The average post-test score in the experimentalclass was 83,20, while the post-test score in the control class was 56,12. Apartfrom that, the results of the t-test calculation show that the t-test value is higherthan the t-table value. The t-test value is 12,191, meanwhile, the t table valueis 2,011. With these results it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho isrejected. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that the researchresults show significance in the research data on English learning activitiesusing word chain games.
